United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) says
Women and girls have all the right as articulated in the universal human rights charter of the United Nations.
UNICEFcommucation officer, Blessing Ejiofor gave the hint at a 4-day workshop on the theme: “Dialogue session with media practitioners on ethical reporting and advocacy by Child right Information Bureau CRIB) in collaboration with UNICEF”
She highlighted female rights as “The right to be protected for girls and young people,
Ejiofor also harped on the privacy of using naked images of women and girls which has become a social challenge.
The UNICEF Commucation officer enjoined media practitioners to represent women and girl child with dignity in all circumstances.
She explained that, the survivor’s picture should be the one that represents them well, insisting that participants should avoid images that stereotype women and girls with an appeal for them to strive and find alternative story lines to appropriately tell their story.
She equally address sensitive areas that must be put into consideration.
In her words,”Do not show the genitals of the child because the bad picture of the girl will leave forever.
“Use dramatic images of women and girl with extreme care and contextralused within a story
“Obtain permission from Women and girls that are of the young girl’s guardian” Ejiofor said.
