Sylvester Oromoni Junior, a 12-year-old student of Dowen College has been allegedly beaten to death.

Reports reaching Point News247 indicates that Sylvester Oromoni Junior, was allegedly beaten to death for refusing to join a cult group in Dowen College, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

A relative of the deceased, identified as @Perrisonoromoni on Twitter made this allegation on Wednesday.

According to @Perrisonoromoni, the 12-year-old was battered on Friday but died on Tuesday after a series of tests and X-rays indicated that he sustained internal injuries.

He added that the school management had reached out to Sylvester Oromoni, the deceased’s father, a Delta state politician, claiming the boy sustained injuries while playing football at school.

@Perrisonoromoni further said, “We’re from Delta State, but he goes to a boarding school in Lekki. They called my uncle that his son was injured when he was playing football. Reaching the hospital, it was confirmed that he was being bullied and beaten up, causing internal damages.

“After tests and X-rays, it was confirmed he was beaten up badly. He died yesterday (Tuesday) morning, and his entire body was swollen.”

He noted that although the deceased never complained about pressures to join a cult group, he only informed his parents on his dying bed in the hospital.

According to the relative, the school’s cult members threatened to kill him if he reported them: “Before passing, he said they’d been pressuring him to join a cult. He was admitted on Friday. He said they were going to kill him if he talked.”

He added that the deceased mentioned a few names of the students who pressured him to join their cult group before he died.

According to Gatekeepers News, several attempts have been made to contact the school by putting calls to its official lines.

A man who eventually picked one of the lines refused to disclose his identity.

When asked for clarity on the allegations, the man simply said, “somebody didn’t beat him.”

In the past, cultism was a menace affecting just the public secondary schools, allegations from this incident insinuate a change in gear to include private secondary schools.
