Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, last Friday, joined other eminent Nigerians to pay final tributes to mother of former Edo State Governor, Chief Lucky Igbinedion, late Mrs. Maria Oredola Igbinedion.
Point News247 reports that the event was graced with dignitaries and leaders from the different regions of the country and the diaspora.
Guests at the funeral mass which held at St. Austin Catholic Church, Benin City included former Military Governor of Bendel State, Sen. Tunde Ogbeha; former Governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori and former Governor of Kano State, Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Others were former Senate President, Pius Anyim Pius Anyim; former Imo State Governor, Achike Udenwa; former Edo State Deputy Governor, Mike Oghiadomhe and Sen. Matthew Urhoghide, among others.
Obaseki, who commiserated with the former governor, extolled the exemplary life of late Mrs. Maria Oredola Igbinedion, noting that she lived a fulfilled life, in service to God and humanity.
Earlier in his homily, Rev. Fr. Moses said late Maria Igbinedion exuded uncommon love and impacted positively on those who crossed her path while she was alive.
The clergy noted, “Mama is an embodiment of love, care, and spirituality. She is a loving person full of life and love. Mama is charitable and has touched the lives of people positively.”
On his part, Lucky Igbinedion thanked the governor and other guests for their presence, adding, “I thank everyone that is here to celebrate her life. It is heartbreaking but we are not broken.”
