Police Rank: IGP Decorates DIG Kokumo, AIG Odumosu, Tasks Officers On Diligence

The new Deputy Inspector-General of Police, DIG Johnson Kokumo in charge of Research and Planning, Force Headquarters, Abuja has been officially decorated into his new rank.

Point News247 reports that this was done by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Alkali Usman Baba and the member of the Executive Board of Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr. Ayo Ogunsan. Also decorated into his new rank is the Lagos Commissioner of Police, AIG Hakeem Olusegun Odumosu.

Recall that the new DIG Johnson Kokumo was posted to Abuja after a short stint as the AIG in charge of Police Zone 2 Command, Onikan (comprising Lagos and Ogun). His brief leadership was attended by immense infrastructural facelift. This includes the construction of a state-of-the-art Security Tower, the construction of a new Police sentry, the renovation of the front of the Onikan building, among other infrastructural works. His administration also enjoyed peace and order.

The new DIG of Research and Planning, DIG Johnson Babatunde Kokumo enlisted as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) into Nigeria Police Force (NPF) on the 15th of March, 1988. He is an Alumnus of the prestigious National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos. In the course of his towering career, DIG Kokumo has also attended Mobile Police Squadron Commanders Retreat Workshop on Human Rights Trafficking and Forensic Science and Senior Executive Course 41, 2019 at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS). He is also a member of The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP).

He obtained his first degree from the Department of Sociology, University of Maiduguri, Borno state, and then proceeded to the famous university of Lagos for his post-graduate studies where he obtained a Master of Science in Sociology with specialization in Criminology. After which he proceeded to gathering other certificates, and attended various seminars.

The Commissioner of Police, AIG Hakeem Odumosu was also praised for his towering efforts in the Lagos Command. The wife of the IGP Alkali Usman Baba, Hajia Hajara Usman Baba celebrated him for being a great asset to the Nigeria Police.

The IGP urged all newly promoted officers not to relent on their efforts. Rather they should see their new ranks as a way to ensure law and order across the country.
