Bandits in large numbers have attacked and inflicted terror on Gozaki community in Katsina state.

In a sad twist of fate, a newly-elected councillor, in the 11 April 2022 Local Government election in Katsina State, has been reportedly killed by the bandits in the early hours of Wednesday in Kafur Local Government Area of the state.

Point News247 reports that a source who spoke on the basis of anonymity, the hoodlums, no fewer than 10 stormed Gozaki community, the hometown of the slained councillor, riding on motorcycles at about 12:15 a.m.

The late Nasiru Magaji, who was elected councillor barely a week ago under the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform to represent Gozaki ward in Kafur Local Government Area of the State, was shot and killed by the gun wielding hoodlums on Wednesday.

According to the source, in an attempt to save his life, the newly elected Gozaki ward councillor was rushed to the Malumfashi Malumfashi General Hospital where he was eventually confirmed dead by the medical staff on duty.

The hoodlums who were reported to have earlier abducted two of the councillors wives in the attack, freed the captives along the way and have been reunited with their family, the source said.
