DRUG WAR: NDLEA Intercepts Cocaine, N1.1bn Travellers’ Checks at Lagos Airport

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted different types of travellers’ cheques in foreign currencies valued at
a total N1.1 billion.
According to its spokesman, Femi Babafemi, the operatives of the agency also seized 10. 89 kilogrammes of cocaine at the airport.

The travelers cheques and cocaine were all intercept at the at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja.
Babafemi said a suspect identified as Oguma Uchenna, was arrested with the cheques which were concealed in hardcover books disguised as academic project literatures for export to the United Kingdom.

He added that the seized cocaine came trough a Qatar Airways flight concealed in seven children’s duvets in an unaccompanied bag from Brazil.
