2022 CONFERENCE: CILT-N NORMINATES MAN RECTOR, COMDR EFFEDUA (Rtd) AS FELLOW

The Rector of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN) Oron, Commodore Emmanuel Duja Effedua (Rtd) has been nominated as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, Nigeria (CILT-N).

The rector is norminated along with other distinguished industry experts and captains, including the amiable Hajia Lami Tumaka, the iconic maritime media personality.

The National President, CILT-N, Barr. Mfon Usoro who disclosed this in a press release made available to journalists, said the event is part of the group’s 2022 National Conference billed to hold on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, with the theme “Sustainable Innovations in Global Logistics and Transport”.

The 2-day event, which also include Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Institute will hold at the Lagos Oriental Hotel and come to a close on Wednesday, October 12, 2022.

Barr. Usoro stated that this year’s theme keys into the global conversation about sustainability principles in how businesses, in particular, the logistics and transport sector are conducted.

According to her, the conference has something for everyone, including policy makers, legislators, transport and logistics operators, academia, lawyers and students.

Usoro also noted that, the key novelty for the conference is the inclusion of diverse industry experts in the planning committee, chaired by an eminent Professor working in collaboration with the National Secretariat to deliver a world class conference.

She explained further that, “The menu that we present to you is the outcome of collaborative work in content development for the Conference starting from the set-up of a competent conference planning committee, conference website, fully functional online registration and payment portal.

“The innovations introduced into this year’s conference planning has been a huge success as is showcased by the diversity of the session topics which covers industry panel sessions and research papers from the academia centered around the Conference Theme”.

Usoro said that 2022 CILT Conference will not be all work, adding that apart from networking in the cool invigorating ambience of the 5-Star Lagos Oriental Hotel, there are other exciting social events in the programme such as dinners, industry tours, as well as conference closing dinner and dance.

It is estimated that a total of 29 speakers will grace the occasion, among who are the following: Dr. Boboye Olayemi Oyeyemi, Immediate Past Corps Marshal Commandant, FRSC; ACM Kayode Olagunju PhD, Assistant Corp Marshal Head Policy, Research and Statistics Department; Barr. Mfon Usoro, National President, CILT Nigeria; Prof. Charles Asenime, Dean. School of Transport and Logistics Lagos State University, Ojo; Prof. Iyiola Oni, Centre for Multimodal Studies, University of Lagos, Akoka; Prof. Kayode Oyesiku, Chairman, Conference Planning Committee, and Prof. Adebambo Somuyiwa, Professor of Transport and Logistics Management, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso

Special guests expected at the conference are: Engr. Mu’azu Sambo, Minister for Transportation; Hadi Sirika, Minister for Aviation; Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Transportation; Chief Adebayo Sarumi, Chairman Fabat Properties Nig. Ltd and Chief Teete Owusu-Nortey, CILT International, President-Elect.

Personalities to be conferred with fellowship include: Commodore Emmanuel Duja Effedua (rtd); Dr. George Moghalu; Lawson Alaba Oluwaseun; Onwordi Oforkanji Emmanuel; Otunba kunle Folarin; Barr. Sam Nwakohu; Capt. Ibraheem Olugbade; Alaga, Abdulwaheed Ajibola and Hajia Lami Tumaka.

Worthy of note is that, there will be a business publication with special focus on money market, maritime, oil and gas industry.
Although the publication started far back as 2004.
