Delta State Gov. Oborevwori unveils Palliative Package For Deltans

In a bid to cushion the hardship occasioned by Federal Government removal of subsidy on premium motor spirit, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori
has unveiled palliative package for the people of the state.

In a press statement signed by Felix Ofou, the substantive executive assistant (new media) to the Gov. of Delta State, further revealed other beneficiaries of the ‘first of it’s kind’ Palliatives to include the State Civil Servants who would receive promotion arrears worth N5.522 billion, effective from this month of August, 2023.

Accordingly, facilitated and guaranteed in the palliative Package are N40 billion pensions payment for Local Government Area pensioners, N10,000.00 for 50,167 public servants, in including 10 tertiary institutions for three (3) months in the first instance.

Government also permitted Rotational work schedule for all civil servants between grade Levels 1-14 for maximum of three (3) days a week untill further notice. To this end, Grade levels15 and above would work out what is convenient in their respective Management, Department and Agencies (MDAs) as working remotely would also be encouraged.
However, All essential duty areas would remain fully functional.

In keeping with His promise to be a Governor for all Deltans, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has graciously constituted a committee headed by the Secretary to State Government and other critical stakeholders including Labour, to extend the palliative package to cover the following individuals and institutions namely, The poor and vulnerable households across Delta State.

The Committee would also identify widows from the State’s robust widow database including People living with disability (PWD) who do not fall within categories above.

The Committee is further mandated to fish out the aged and lastly, to urgently engage the Keke Assembly plant in Asaba to finalise the production of Tricycle that is fueled with Consolidated Natural Gas (CNG) compatible and provide Electric Vehicles for mass transit. It’s expected that this extensive palliative package by the Government, Deltans would begin to enjoy good life
