The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has congratulated Nigerians on the Christmas and forthcoming New Year celebration, and has ordered adequate protection of all and sundry.

The police boss, at a meeting with Tactical Commanders, comprising Police Mobile Force (PMF), Border Patrol Force (BPF) and Safer Highway, held at the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Abuja, instructed them to deploy adequate personnel and resources throughout the length and breadth of the country.

Among the places to focus on, according to the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), ACP Olimuyiwa Adejobi, are worship, recreational and picnic centres, to protect “fun-seekers, who are out for the festive celebrations” .

Egbetokun re-echoed same instruction at a similar meeting with the intelligence units of the Force on Thursday.

In the same vein, Adejobi stated that, the Police would be having its Christmas Carol and Service of 9 Lessons on Friday, December 22, at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Abuja.

The carol will have in attendance dignitaries from all walks of life, including the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen George Akume and the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

Also to grace the event are the Honourable Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Geidam; Chairman Police Service Commission, Dr Solomon Arase; Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Christopher Musa, amongst others.

“The Inspector General of Police on behalf of the Police Force, wishes Nigerians a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year in advance”, the statement added.
