The Vice-Chancellor of the Delta State University of Science and Technology, DSUST, Ozoro, Professor Jacob Oboreh and his management team on Monday, visited the Orerokpe campus of the University following the relocation of the Faculty of Management Sciences to the new campus.

Professor Oboreh’s first point of call was at the Palace of the Orodje of Okpe kingdom, HRM Maj. Gen. Felix Mujakperuo, (Retd) CFR, Orhue I, where he was received by the Unu-Okpe, traditional prime minister of Okpe Kingdom, Okakuro Michael Affe and the Council of Chiefs.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor informed the Palace that he was at the Palace to visit the Orodje of Okpe kingdom as the Landlord of the campus, adding that it will be wrong for him to go straight to the campus site without visiting the Palace.

The Vice-Chancellor was welcomed by the Palace and prayed for the success of the University, Governor Oborevwori and Deltans at large. The Vice-Chancellor and his management team were later led to the new campus site by the Council of Chiefs.

Expressing satisfaction with the choice of location of the campus, Professor Oboreh said, “the location of the campus is very good, having seen what is on ground, I am in a better position to write to His Exellency on the needs of the Campus.

“I want to assure you that His Exellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori does listen to me. He has assured me of speedy development of the main campus at Ozoro and the Orerokpe campus of the University.

“As a proposed Technical College, some of the buildings will be restructured and more built to suite the University system.

“The new campus will require Library, Health Centre, Lecture Halls, among others and we are grateful and optimistic because the Governor has promised to develop the Ozoro and Orerokpe campuses speedily.”

When asked if the relocation of the Faculty of Management Science to Orerokpe will not shrink the university as argued by some persons, the Vice-Chancellor said the relocation will not affect the University in any way because there are other programmes in the area of engineering, information technology and communication which will be established without further delay to take over the environment the faculty of management science occupied today at Ozoro. There is no problem at all,” the Vice-Chancellor said.

The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied by the University Registrar, Mrs Stella Muoboghare; Bursar, Mr Sylvester Okoh; University Librarian Dr Ogochukwu Emiri; Dean Faculty of Computing Prof. Wilson Nwankwo and his Environmental Sciences counterpart Prof. Festus Adewale.
