Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori has delighted the state’s contingent to the 2023 National Youth Games with substantial cash awards, recognizing their exceptional performance.
The event, hosted by Delta State, saw the team triumphantly securing the top spot on the medals table, continuing their legacy of excellence since the inception of the youth Games.
In line with the government’s commitment to fostering athletic excellence, the governor’s gesture serves as both a reward and an encouragement for future achievements. The announcement came through a statement from the Director General of the Delta State Sports Commission, Mr. Festus Ohwojero, who confirmed that the beneficiaries have already started receiving their monetary rewards.
Mr. Ohwojero expressed gratitude to Governor Oborevwori, highlighting that this financial recognition will serve as a significant motivator for the athletes as they prepare for the upcoming 8th edition of the National Youth Games. Scheduled for September 10th – 20th, 2024, Delta State is set to host the next three editions of this prestigious youth sports event.
