The Finance and Online Publishers (FiBOP) has penciled down the director general of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Mr Emomotimi Agama and the managing director and Chief executive officer of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), Mr Bello Hassan as the keynote speakers at its forthcoming workshop in.Lagos.
The chairperson of the workshop organising committee, Vera Osokpo, disclosed this in a statement, emphasising that the event will be held under the theme: ‘Digital Innovation: Deepening Infrastructure for Efficient Financial Ecosystem.’
The event is slated for October 18-20 at Orchids Hotel in Lekki in Lagos.
According to her, “The digitalisation of the financial system, driven largely by fintech firms has revolutionised transactions, brining about speed and convenience, reduced costs and increased financial savings, improved access to financial services, improved security of transactions, enhanced transparency and deepened financial inclusion.
“Virtually all aspects of financial system operations have been digitalised in view of the benefits of digitalisation for the financial institutions, consumers, and even the government.
“It is based on the foregoing that FiBOP has put together this workshop in which financial experts and stakeholders will gather to dissect issues,” she said.
She said the event will be a rich and engaging experience, with opportunities for networking, learning, and collaboration.
“It is a must-attend for stakeholders interested in the future of Nigeria’s digital economy and financial ecosystem.
“Through workshop, FiBOP seeks to contribute meaningfully to the development of Nigeria’s digital economy and financial ecosystem, ensuring that the country is well-positioned to take advantage of the opportunities presented by digital innovation,” she added.
Agama holds a Bachelor of Science (Accountancy) honors degree in Accountancy from the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port-Harcourt, a Master of Science degree (Banking and Finance), Master of Science degree in Economics, and a Master of Science (Banking and Finance), both from the University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria and a Ph.D. in Economics with distinction from the Nile University of Nigeria where his Ph.D. dissertation was titled: Impact of Cryptocurrency Operations on Macroeconomic Variables in Nigeria.
A graduate certificate holder in Capital Market from The George Washington University Washington DC USA, and also a graduate of the International Housing Finance Programme of the Wharton Business School USA, New York Institute of Finance, Core Analyst Programme.
An IFC-Milken Institute Fellow, John Agama is a Chartered Management Accountant, Economist, Investment Analyst, A Chartered Stock Broker, and a Risk Manager.
He also holds The Advanced Risk Management Certificate from the University College London and PRMIA, a graduate of Strategic Enterprise Analysis and PRINCE 2 Project Management of the SEEC, York University Toronto Canada, as well as a graduate of the Duke University USA programme on Fintech law and Policy.
He is an Associate Member Chartered Institute of Management Accountant UK, a Chartered Global Management Accountant, Chartered Member of LIFA USA, Member Chartered Securities and Investment Institute, London, Associate Member Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), a Senior Fellow of the Risk Managers Association of Nigeria (RIMAN).
Hassan holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Accounting and an MBA from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He also holds a Diploma in Business Continuity Management from Coventry University, UK.
He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria as well as an Honorary Fellow, Chartered Institute of Bankers (CIBN).
