Nigeria’s leading online news platform, Primetime Reporters, will on Wednesday December 4, 2024 celebrate its 10th year anniversary of incisive, factual, accurate and timely reportage of the Nigerian and the world economy.
The event will also feature annual lecture and awards to some deserving Nigerians as part of the highlights of the event which will be attended by ministers, heads of government agencies, politicians, captains of industry and media practitioners.
The event which has as its theme as, “Leveraging Technology To Maximize The Potential Of Nigeria’s Blue Economy” will hold at the Welcome Centre and Hotels located along Airport Road, Ikeja, Lagos beginning from 10.00am prompt.
Speaking on the import of the event, the Managing Director/Editor-in-chief of Primetime Reporters, Mr. Saint Augustine Nwadinamuo also known as Odogwu n’epe mpe, stated that the event was actually to celebrate resilience and perseverance.
According to him, “When we started this medium which is an online news platform in 2014, many of our clients then could not understand how they could read about their events and activities without having a hard copy to keep and to show their friends, or for reference purposes in future. Part of the problem then was because the majority of our clients then were not conversant with the use of android phones and their operations to enable them to read our stories and activities online. So, it became a big challenge.
“I remember back then when we alerted some of our clients about the publication of their stories online, some would not even bother to open the link sent to them to read the story because they didn’t understand it, while some will after reading, ask when the hard copy would be published, only for them to get disappointed when told that we don’t publish hard copy. As a result, we lost many of our clients as they would not bother to invite us to their events or send us their stories for use anymore.
“But we continued and never gave up and then years down the line, we are here to tell our success stories because not only has our medium become the favorite of the reading public, online news sites have become the order of the day. Even those of our colleagues in the mainstream media who would not give us a chance back then, are now resigning from their employments and are taking up the online newspapers publishing option. This is thanks to our perseverance.”
Nwadinamuo further observed that Primetime Reporters was worth celebrating having survived all the challenging times and moments and remained so strong and a medium to beat as far as accurate and timely news reportage is concerned.
He said, “Most start-ups don’t survive beyond their first three years of existence. Many of them that survived the first three years, don’t survive beyond their first five years but here we are celebrating ten successful years, which to me is a milestone.”
On the achievements recorded by the news medium in its ten years of existence, the Managing Director revealed that Primetime Reporters had held three lectures in its series, the first in 2016 when it marked its three years anniversary with the theme, “Maritime Sector In Nigeria Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow”, delivered by Hon. Chris Asoluka, the second in 2018 with the theme, “The Gains and Challenges of The Presidential Order On Ease of Doing Business In The Nigerian Maritime Sector One Year After”, anchored by Dr. Muda Yusuf and the third in 2021 with the theme, “Assessing Nigeria’s Preparedness to Maximize The Gains of AfCFTA”, anchored by the duo of Dr. Muda Yusuf and Mr. Francis Anatogu, former Secretary, National Action Committee on AfCFTA.
“The outcome of the three lecture series have helped the federal government and it’s agencies in no small measure to reshape its policy directions in the past ten years and we are proud to be part of the change that we seek and are even ready to continue to point the way to progress through our public engagements as our civic responsibility as a responsible business concern”, he said.
He explained that this year’s event theme was poised to x-ray the role technology could play in maximizing the inherent and identifiable potential abound in Nigeria’s blue economy which is believed to rank next only to the oil and gas industry.
He therefore extended an invitation to stakeholders, government agencies, international development agencies, captains of industry, the organized private sector and the general public to be part of this epoch event which according to him, was set to point the way forward for the policy makers and redirect the economy towards progress.
