The Tincan Island Port Area Command has welcomed Comptroller FO Onyeka as its new Customs Area Controller. His appointment follows the elevation of his predecessor, Comptroller DA Nnadi, to the rank of Assistant Comptroller General (ACG).
In his inaugural address, Comptroller Onyeka expressed his commitment to advancing the key policy pillars of the Comptroller-General of Customs: collaboration, consolidation, and innovation. “I am committed to sustaining and building on the legacy of my predecessor, particularly in revenue generation, anti-smuggling operations, and infrastructural transformation,” he stated.
He also emphasized an inclusive leadership style, urging stakeholders, including security agencies, freight forwarders, terminal operators, and the media, to collaborate in ensuring trade compliance and operational efficiency. “No one has a monopoly of knowledge; we must work together to achieve success,” Onyeka added.
Before his appointment, Comptroller Onyeka demonstrated exceptional leadership at various assignments, including his role at the Premier Port Gate and Onne Port Area Command. His achievements in revenue generation, anti-smuggling efforts, and transformational innovations have earned him recognition, including the prestigious Value Addition Officer Award.
Outgoing ACG Nnadi commended the officers and stakeholders for their support during his tenure.
He highlighted the Command’s impressive revenue performance, stating, “We have collected N1.2 trillion, representing 86.8% of our 2024 target, and significantly improved anti-smuggling operations with seizures valued at over N4.5 billion.”
As he assumes leadership, Comptroller Onyeka aims to leverage his vast experience and expertise to drive the Command’s growth and efficiency.
