Lion Princess Oghale Oweh, Chapter President of the Isoko Royal Lion’s Club, has been making waves in her local community through her selfless humanitarian efforts. As a firm believer that service to humanity is the key to happiness, Oweh has dedicated herself to bringing smiles to the faces of those in need.
A member of various community-based organizations, including the Isoko Ladies League and Ewheya Isoko Association, Oweh has been empowering young girls through skills acquisition and provision of sewing machines. Her commitment to community development has earned her recognition, including an Excellence Award presented to Hon. Jonathan Ukodhiko, Member representing Isoko Federal Constituency.¹
Under Oweh’s leadership, the Isoko Royal Lion’s Club conducted a needs assessment and visited the Central Hospital in Oleh. Following a fruitful discussion with the medical director, nurses, and patients, the club embarked on a mega project to renovate the children’s ward. The renovation included replacing 42 louvres-based windows with new Allumaco windows, painting the children’s wards, tile work, plumbing, and painting of hospital beds. The club also donated hospital tools to support the healthcare system.
In addition to the mega project, the club has been actively involved in monthly activities, including sanitation exercises, blood pressure checks in market places, diabetic awareness campaigns, and donating food items to the local orphanage. Oweh expressed her gratitude to all donors who made the project a reality, emphasizing that “in Lionism, we serve, and together, we serve better.”
Oweh’s selfless efforts and dedication to humanitarian causes serve as a shining example of the impact one person can have in their community.
