After Years of Neglect, the Isoko People Look to Their Illustrious Son to Bring Development and Growth to the Region”

The Isoko Nation, a region rich in culture and natural resources, has for long been plagued by neglect and underdevelopment. However, with the emergence of Prophet Jones Erue as a leading figure in the region’s affairs, the Isoko people are optimistic that their fortunes are about to change.

Prophet Jones Erue, a renowned politician and leader, has been instrumental in transforming the political landscape of Delta State. As the pioneer chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Delta State, he has showcased exceptional leadership, steering the party to its current position of influence. His tenure was marked by significant political milestones, including the emergence of a Deputy Senate President in the 2019 general elections.¹

The Isoko Ethnic Nationality Movement (IENM) has appealed to President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to appoint Prophet Jones Erue as the Managing Director of the new board of South South Development Commission (SSDC). The group emphasized that Erue’s leadership would give the new commission the effective representation that aligns with the region’s needs in the area of infrastructural development.

The Isoko Nation, comprising 19 clans with a population of over 750,000, has a rich cultural heritage and natural resources. However, the region has faced years of neglect and underdevelopment, with the Isoko people often being sidelined in federal appointments and infrastructural development.

Prophet Jones Erue’s appointment would not only ensure proper representation but also serve as a form of recognition for his instrumental role in strengthening the APC in Delta State. As an astute politician and administrator, he possesses the necessary skills to drive the SSDC’s mandate, with his experience in fostering and sustaining political relationships being invaluable in securing partnerships and collaborations.

The Isoko people are known for their rich cultural heritage, with festivals like the *Oyise-Owhe festival*, which showcases the community’s artistic decorations, music, and dance. The festival honors the goddess Oyise, who is believed to protect and bless the Owhe clan.

In conclusion, the appointment of Prophet Jones Erue as the Managing Director of the SSDC is a strategic and forward-thinking decision. His political acumen, administrative expertise, and deep understanding of the region’s needs make him the ideal candidate to lead the commission, ensuring meaningful development and inclusive growth for the South South region.
