As Africa observes National Women’s Month in August, World Wide Scholarships (WWS) is recognizing the significant contributions of women and highlighting the ongoing fight for gender equality.
The celebration culminates on August 9th, marking a day of reflection on the progress made and the work that still lies ahead for women’s rights.
In a landmark move to further empower young women, WWS has announced a collaboration with the PLO Lumumba Foundation.
This partnership unites the two organizations in a shared mission to unlock the potential of youth across more than 50 countries worldwide.
The collaboration will focus on empowering young sportswomen, ensuring they have the same opportunities as their male counterparts.
With a network of over 1,200 universities globally, WWS provides access to more than 24,000 scholarships annually in sports, arts, and academics.
“This is more than a partnership, it’s a movement,” said Munya Maraire, CEO of World-Wide Scholarships. “We’re building bridges between continents, institutions, and generations to ensure that talent is never wasted due to a lack of access.”
Professor Patrick Lumumba of the PLO Lumumba Foundation added, “Africa’s youth are its greatest asset. Through this collaboration, we aim to equip them with the tools, networks, and mindset to lead Africa into a new era of prosperity.”
This partnership reinforces the commitment of both organizations to create a more equitable future for young women, not just during Women’s Month, but throughout the year.
WWS is a leading organization that helps students secure academic, arts, and sports scholarships at top universities globally.
With a vast network of partner institutions, WWS is dedicated to creating life-changing opportunities for talented individuals worldwide.
The PLO Lumumba Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering leadership, promoting good governance, and empowering young people in Africa through education and mentorship.
August is a month to celebrate all the incredible Sports women in your life
