The Tin Can Island Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has disclosed plans to commence full paperless operations in the second quarter (Q2) of 2026, aimed at transforming the command into a one-stop shop for the seamless clearance of goods.

The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Frank Onyeka made this known on Tuesday, during an engagement with the media, where he unveiled the command’s strategic plans for the year.

He said the move was specifically in achieving the Federal Government’s National Single Window (NSW) plan, where the command is expected to play a critical role, noting that plans are already in place to also engage with stakeholders and the trading public on the policy rollout.

Onyeka, while highlighting the command’s achievements during the period, said it generated the sum of over N145.9 billion as revenue for January 2026.

The Tincan NCS boss said the revenue is about N29.5 billion above the N116.4 billion generated during the corresponding period of January, 2025.

He said the command being a trade enabler makes it easier for all stakeholders and the trading public across the value chain. According to him, “All we need is to make it practicable and achievable.”

Onyeka assured that the platform would not be sabotaged or interrupted by network challenges. He urged importers to declare rightly, noting that if their consignments are declared properly, there would be seamless clearing of their goods.

He said goods would only be subjected to physical examination if the consignments are not legible enough during scanning for national security concerns, “We are not going to compromise. Importers must palletise their goods for easy clearance”.
