The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Lagos State Command has vowed to prevent vandalism of assets and infrastructure and to protect citizens during the Easter holiday period. Following the Federal Government’s declaration of Friday, 3rd April (Good Friday) and Monday, 6th April (Easter Monday) 2026 as public holidays, the Command has mobilized its human and material resources to ensure safety across the state.

The Lagos State Commandant, Mr. Adedotun Keshinro, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding citizens and critical national assets and infrastructure across all sectors of the economy. To this end, he announced the deployment of 2,250 officers and men to worship centres, recreation parks, and other strategic locations throughout Lagos.

Speaking at the State Headquarters in Alausa on Thursday, 2nd April 2026, the Commandant disclosed that operational strategies have been reinvigorated to combat criminals and eliminate vandalism and other activities harmful to the state’s economic growth and development. The Lagos Command will collaborate with other security agencies to achieve optimal results during the festive period.

Officers and men have been directed to secure strategic locations, facilities, rights of way, oil pipelines, religious centres, parks, gardens, and both public and private spaces before, during, and after the celebrations. The Command will employ robust intelligence gathering, intensive patrols, crime prevention mechanisms, and special responses from the Special Female Squad (SFS) and Quick Intervention Squad (QIS), alongside a collective security approach.

The Lagos State Commandant also extended Easter greetings to Christian faithfuls in the state, urging them to embrace the values of love, forgiveness, sacrifice, compassion, mercy, humility, and tolerance associated with the season. All citizens are assured of continued vigilance and comprehensive security measures during the holiday period.
