Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta South Senatorial District to intensify grassroots mobilisation and work together to secure a decisive victory in the 2027 general elections.
The senator made the call on Thursday during a meeting of the APC Delta South Senatorial District in Warri, where he urged party leaders and members to set aside personal differences and focus on winning elections across the district.
He said the party’s performance would depend largely on its ability to transform public support for the APC into votes at the polling units.
Joel-Onowakpo directed party leaders to return to their wards and communities, engage with residents and rebuild strong connections with voters. He said grassroots structures must be strengthened ahead of the elections.
“Nobody needs to tell us what the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has been doing in the country. Nobody also needs to tell us what our government and our leaders are doing. We know the facts, and our people are watching,” he said.
The senator appealed to APC candidates to cooperate with party leaders and remain committed to the party’s collective objectives. He warned that unresolved disagreements could weaken the APC and provide opportunities for opposition parties.
“We cannot afford division. We cannot afford complacency. The time has come for all of us to work together and ensure that every candidate of our party receives the support necessary to win,” he said.
He urged party stakeholders, including those aligned with the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, the state party chairman and other leaders, to lead the mobilisation effort in their various constituencies.
According to him, APC members must engage voters directly and address weaknesses within the party before the campaign gathers full momentum.
“We must go into the field, engage our people and leave no room for opposition to take advantage of our weaknesses,” Joel-Onowakpo said.
He explained that the APC was not preparing merely to contest the 2027 elections but to win convincingly across the senatorial district.
Although he acknowledged the progress made by the party, the senator said more attention was needed to strengthen its organisational structures and maintain unity among its members.
“Our people expect results from us, and we must not disappoint them,” he said.
Joel-Onowakpo urged party members to begin sustained mobilisation in their communities, adding that victory would depend on disciplined organisation, teamwork and the effective conversion of public goodwill into electoral support.
“This is not the time for complacency. It is the time for hard work, mobilisation and unity. If we remain together and work collectively, there is no doubt that we can achieve victory,” he declared.
