Delta 2023: Poverty of the mind leads to corruption-Onowakpo

Poverty of the mind has been described as one major ingredient that leads party delegates and most Nigerians to corruption.

All Progressives Congress (APC) member, Chief Joel Onowakpo who won the Delta South Senetorial district Expressed this view in an interview with Pointnews247.com in Delta State.

According to him, the only thing that makes Party delegates demand for money before chosing any candidate in an election is poverty.

“When a delegate that is suppose to chose rightly lacks money in his pocket and at home, he begins to make outrageous financial demands, such delegate can’t vote rightly”.

“Name it, financial Poverty, joblessness, and loss of business. Poverty brings disgrace to any man and it would be chaotic if not reduced to manageable end”.

Chief Onowakpo also stated that,APC as a Party is trying it’s best to reduce poverty in Nigeria and pointed out that, his mission in the national Assembly would be to galvernise support from my Colleagues to fight poverty, and other ailments like Malaria, hypertension.

“we would make sure we tackle those ailments that trouble Nigerians to a sustainable end.
Another thing I would do
According to him, if voted into power is to empower state government in tackling poverty to a desirable way.

He added that the current president Muhammadu Buhari, is trying to reduce poverty among Nigerians, insisting that Consequences of poverty of the mind is having people that would not vote candidates that would make needed difference when they come to power.

“Poverty kills a man and makes him to always consider things from the monetary angle and thereby, electing the wrong candidate”.

He also emphasized that there’s no division or faction in the APC in Delta State as he explained that what happened in the past was a faction of the Party’s leaders of thought and APC flag bearer Ovie Omo-Agege which he said has been fussed into one for peaceful coexistence.

‘Other parties especially PDP are notorious and known for crisis and factionalisation not APC, he stated.

Onowakpo however, used the occasion to congratulate the APC Guber flag bearer Ovie Omo-Agege, and the Party hierarchy in Delta State for a smooth and successful primaries.
