ECONOMIC SABOTAGE: NSCDC DISCOVER ILLEGAL MINING SITE IN IKORODU

The nigeria security and civil defence corps (NSCDC) has discovered and exposed an illegal mining site, rushes to protect telecommunication infrastructure, massive power lines from imminent vandalism, collapse and disaster on thursday, 15, September, 2022 in Ginti, the Ijede axis of Ikorodu, Lagos.

NSCDC Lagos State Command, Commandant of Corps ( CC ) Eweka Edenabu Okoro who discovered the site, warned perpetrators of such inimical act, to desist,pointing out that such act may hinder the economic prosperity of millions in Lagos State .

This was contained in a press release signed by deputy Civil defence public Relations Officer,Lagos State Command,DSC Abolurin Oluwaseun Olumide and made available to pointNews.

It stated, “the Commandant moved to uncover the illegal mining site, in line with the recent directive of the Corp ‘s Commandant General, CG Ahmed Abubakar to all State Commandants.
CG Ahmed Abubakar’ directive is for all hands to be on deck to ensure zero tolerance to all forms of vandalism of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI ), of the Federal, State and Local Governments in the country.

According to the statement,”On getting to the site, it was discovered that the miners, were involved in illegal mining of soil from a large hectares of land, where telecommunication masts and power lines are planted, to supply quality services, to millions of Nigerians, living in Lagos and a few neighbouring states of the country”

“Furthermore, the team of officers, led by Commandant Eweka Okoro, this morning, during a search to put a stop to the dastardly act, also discovered about three caterpillars, suspected to be used by the miners, to perpetrate the evil act at the site.

“The Commandant during the uncovering of the mining site also spoke to newsmen at the scene, where he said, “the Command will not rest on its oars, to ensure that illegal mining sites, oil pipelines and, telecommunications infrastructure and other critical national assets and infrastructure, of government are protected, across board in the country.”

“While exiting the mining site, at Ginti, Ijede, Commandant Eweka Okoro, also met with the Chairman of the Ijede Tipper Ventures, Alhaji Tajudeen Ilesanmi and some of his members, in their secretariat, where he took quality time, to seriously, warn members of the Ventures, to immediately, desist from the act and that anyone caught from now, will be made to face the full wrath of the law.

“The Commandant was also joined this morning, to uncover the illegal mining site, located at Ginti, Ijede, Ikorodu, by the Deputy Commandant of Corps ( DCC ), in charge of CNAI, DCC Gabriel Ikhiakele, DCC Jimoh Olusola, in charge of Technical Services, Area Commander Lagos East, Ikorodu, Assistant Commandant of Corps ( ACC ) Oloogunebi Mutiu, Divisional Officer, Ikorodu Division, Chief Superintendent of Corps ( CSC ) Osisami Osibowale, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Corps ( DSC ) Abolurin Oluwaseun, media men and other gallant officers of the Command.
