Statewide Waste Environmental Education Programme (SWEEP) has concluded a workshop on leadership and vocational skills acquisition in Lagos.
The highly intensive, interactive and educational workshop attracted students from far and wide as they were lectured on Leadership, Waste management, Socialism and types of Personalities.
President of SWEEP Foundation, Amb. Phillips Ozoemena Obuesi lectured the students on types of personality and mentioned types of personality namely,
The thinker, The Socializer, The Supporter and The Director.
Barrister Obuesi informed that Lagos state being the most populous state in Nigeria generates high volume of waste daily.
He listed types of domestic waste such as, Food waste: Degradable and Decomposable, Medical waste, Plastic waste: Non Degradable and Non-decomposable.
He said 60% waste generated in Lagos is recycled.
According to him, the earth is the only planet that is adaptable and the essence of recycling is to protect the planet.
One of the guest speakers Mrs. Flora put the Students through writing skills to encourage them to form the habit and passion for writing.
She defined the art of writing and also offered Eight (8) tips of how they would succeed as writers and listed the eight tips as follows, “Polish HR, Manuscript, Building up the author platform, Writing books that people can understand, Write a lot and market them etc.”
Expectedly, Mrs. Flora also gave the definition of E-book as an electronic form that can be read on a computer or handheld device.
The full meaning of ISBN, (international standard book number) was given to the students as well as Websites that can provide them with income for writing.
Amb Felix Iziomoh took the floor by advising the students not to forget to share with their fellow students what they learnt.
He also gave out internet safety tips, for the students to always create a strong password, activating privacy settings, for the students to list the types of social media and asked the students some important questions about the internet and telecom providers.
Mrs. Salako, from Schools Admin Department from Education District IV, paid a visit to the workshop and urged the students to put what they had learned into practice as well as share it with others in their school. She thanked the organization for putting up such event.
