Former Minister of Transportation Mu’azu Jaji Sambo, CON, was at the Federal University, Wukari, Taraba State, for the 6th and 7th Convocation Ceremony of the institution.

The former Minister led a high-powered delegation of former ministers, federal permanent secretaries and other dignitaries to the conferment of an Honourary Doctorate Degree in law, on Boss Mustapha, NPoM, CFR, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (2017 – 2023).

The delegation paid homage to His Majesty, Manu Ishaku Adda Ali Matakhitswen, the Aku Uka and Chairman of the Taraba State Traditional Rulers’ Council, before proceeding to the University for the Inaugural lecture. The Traditional ruler appreciated the former Minister and wished he had more time as the honourable minister, noting that his infrastructural revolution would have gotten to southern Taraba.

Boss Mustapha was honoured alongside His Majesty, Manu Ishaku Adda Ali Matakhitswen, the Aku Uka and Chairman of Taraba State Traditional Rulers Council, and Hon. Chief Obadiah Ando, former Minister of Water Resources.

Speaking to the press, Sambo noted that the conferment of an Honourary degree in law on the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation was well deserving. He noted that Boss Mustapha’s sterling qualities as a legal luminary and an astute administrator did not go unnoticed. “The history and development of the Federal University Wukari would not be complete without acknowledging with gratitude the pivotal role played by Boss Mustapha. An astute administrator, technocrat and visionary leader,” He said.

Sambo also noted that Boss Mustapha was pivotal in accelerating the approval and eventual establishment of the University Teaching Hospital at the Federal University Wukari. He also eulogized Mutapha’s virtues over the years, noting that he worked closely with him in NIWA and the Federal cabinet of the last administration. “The SGF deserves this and more,” he said.

Sambo also appreciated David Sabo Kente, a critical stakeholder of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Taraba State, for playing host to the delegation. He appreciated him wholeheartedly and thanked him for his admirable benevolence.

Taking further questions from the correspondent about his next political move, Sambo, who was looking refreshed, decked in his navy blue “babbanriga” and in his jovial manner, said he is enjoying his well-deserved rest, after a hectic ten-month tenure as the Minister of Transportation. He is back to his private practice as a builder. He loves building and he will always contribute his quota to the success of Taraba state and Nigeria at large.
