Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, successfully brokered a lasting peace agreement between the Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh communities in Udi and Warri South-West Local Government Areas, respectively, over the weekend.

The breakthrough was achieved during a meeting held at the Governor’s Osubi residence, where stakeholders from both communities, including members of the peace committee, gathered to discuss the age-long land dispute

Governor Oborevwori commended the youths and elders of both communities for agreeing to maintain peace and adhere to the terms of settlement. He assured that he would soon make a pronouncement based on the agreed terms, paving the way for a lasting resolution

The Governor’s intervention was lauded by representatives of both communities, who expressed gratitude for his role in resolving the crisis. This development is a significant milestone, given the longstanding nature of the dispute

Recall that Governor Oborevwori had previously approved the construction of the Aladja/Ogbe-Ijoh road, aimed at ensuring free movement of people across both communities. This move demonstrates the Governor’s commitment to finding lasting solutions to the crisis.

The peace agreement is a testament to the Governor’s dedication to promoting peace and stability in Delta State. As the state continues to move forward, this resolution will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the lives of residents in the affected communities.
