The Chairman of Isoko-North Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Elder Prince Godwin Ogorugba, has been honored with the Maritime Excellence Award by the Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria (AMJON).
Ogorugba was bestowed with the honored on the basis of his inspiring wave of modernisation and visionary leadership rooted in experience and inclusiveness in Delta, a core maritime state that continues to contribute to the revenue of Nigeria.
He was presented with the award at the 2025 Annual Conference of AMJON held at the Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, on Friday, July 19, 2025.
Ogorugba is a fantastic grassroot democrat who believes in the rapid development of Isoko-North in particular and Delta State in general.
He assumed office in July 2024 and within this short period has lighted up the entire LGA, building of health centers and residential quarters for the staff of the council. He has also constructed rural roads and markets, as well as the provision of various basic amenities to make life easy for the people.
The Vice President of AMJON, Vera Osokpo, who received the award on behalf of Ogorugba, described him as a man of the people who is passionate about their well-being and development.
Osokpo congratulated him for the well-deserved recognition, adding that it is her belief that the recognition would inspire the LGA Chairman to continue pushing boundaries and empowering the people of Isoko-North.
