Former President-General of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) and Deputy President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Prince Adewale Adeyanju, has felicitated Comrade (Prince) Olayiwola Shittu, President-Emeritus of the Association of Nigerian Clearing Agents (ANCLA), on his 75th birthday.
Adeyanju, who is also Vice President (Global) of the International Transport Workers Federation (ITF), described Shittu as “a reformer, transformer, innovator and one of the pioneers of the clearing and forwarding terrain” in Nigeria’s maritime sector.
He lauded the celebrant’s transformative leadership and contributions to the growth of ANCLA, noting that his tenure marked the zenith of the association as one of the country’s foremost clearing agencies.
Recalling Shittu’s early career with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Adeyanju said the Oyo-born maritime leader served “with humility and without blemish” before venturing into the clearing and forwarding profession, where he carved a niche for himself and his contemporaries.
He commended Shittu’s visionary approach and international outlook, stating that his affiliation of ANCLA with global bodies earned both the man and the association international recognition and accolades.
Adeyanju also extolled Shittu’s philanthropic spirit, describing him as a symbol of grace, integrity, and stability whose humanitarian services have been acknowledged through numerous merit awards at home and abroad.
He prayed for continued peace, joy, good health, and prosperity for the celebrant, adding that Prince Shittu remains “an icon of the maritime community” whose enduring legacy would stand the test of time.
