The Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN) led by Comrade Francis Bunu Abi has congratulated members of the Inter-Ministeral Committee in recognition of their contributions to Nigeria’s successful election into category ‘C’ of the council of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) for 2026-2027.
MWUN stated in a press statement signed by MWUN media, Comrade Kennedy Ikemefuna that the feat recorded so far for the country on November 28, 2025 in London, where Nigeria secured a seat on the IMO Council was a significant impact in the history of the country’s Maritime space and diplomatic engagements, adding it was remarkable and commendable, worthy of national celebration.
The Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria President general praised the efforts of the committee, which were a critical factor in promoting Nigeria’s Maritime reforms and its capability on the global stage.
Comrade Bunu also thanked Dr. Adegboyega Oyetola, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy for the achievement and the effectiveness of the committee members.
While thanking the federal government for promoting the country’s interest within the global Maritime sector.
