Obidient Movement Mobilises in Akwa Ibom, Channels Support into ADC Ahead of 2027

Supporters of the Obidient Movement have intensified mobilisation efforts in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, as preparations gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, with leaders calling for unity, structure and vigilance in the electoral process.

Addressing members of the movement at a grassroots engagement, the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, Yunusa Tanko, declared that the group would not accept a repeat of the controversies that trailed the 2023 elections.

He stressed that votes must be correctly counted in 2027, urging supporters to be prepared to protect the integrity of the ballot.

Tanko called on members across the state to move “from passion to structure, from structure to strategy, and from strategy to victory”, noting that the Obidient Movement transcends electoral cycles and represents a broader struggle for a disciplined, competent and accountable Nigeria.

He said the movement’s current strategy involves consolidating its political strength within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which he described as the vehicle for transformation and victory in the next election.

“This is not just a political alignment; it is a strategic movement towards winning power to serve the people,” Tanko said, urging coordinators, volunteers, youths, women and elders to mobilise across wards and local government areas, strengthen polling unit structures, and ensure voter registration and revalidation.

According to him, Akwa Ibom’s history of resilience and excellence positions the state to play a decisive role in shaping Nigeria’s future, if its people translate their strength into organised political participation.

Tanko also reaffirmed the movement’s support for Peter Obi, expressing confidence that he possesses the integrity, energy and capacity to lead Nigeria as president.

He called on supporters to remain united and committed, insisting that disciplined mobilisation, voter education and collective action would be key to success in 2027.

“2027 is a defining moment. Victory will not come by wishful thinking but through organised and determined action. When we move together, we are unstoppable”, he said.

The mobilisation in Akwa Ibom forms part of a wider nationwide effort by the Obidient Movement to strengthen its grassroots base and build momentum ahead of the next general elections, as supporters continue to push the message that a new Nigeria is possible.
