The President-General of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Bunu, has congratulated women across the world on the occasion of International Women’s Day, urging them to remain strong and continue to play their vital roles in society.

In a message marking the global celebration, the labour leader described women as one of the most precious gifts bestowed on humanity, noting that their presence makes the world a better and more meaningful place.

Comrade Bunu said the world would have been incomplete without women, stressing that their contributions to family life, social development and nation-building remain invaluable.

According to him, the Creator recognised the importance of women in balancing life, adding that their role in nurturing humanity and sustaining society cannot be overstated.

He further described women as indispensable partners in the progress of mankind, noting that without them life would be less meaningful and the continuity of humanity would not have been possible.

The MWUN President-General also praised the resilience, strength and dedication of women, referring to them as the “salt of the earth” whose presence gives life greater purpose and fulfilment.

While congratulating women globally, Bunu also specially commended female members of the union for their commitment and contributions to the growth of the organisation.

He urged women in the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria not to relent in demonstrating strength, courage and professionalism in their various roles within the maritime sector.

Bunu added that he remains proud of the female comrades in the union and encouraged them to continue upholding the values of hard work and solidarity as they join other women around the world in celebrating the day.
