The Acting Customs Area Controller of the Oyo/Osun Area Command, Deputy Comptroller of Customs Wale Moses Adewole, visited the International Breweries Plc plant in Ilesa, Osun State, on Tuesday, 14 April 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to deepen collaboration with excise factories and key stakeholders. The courtesy visit provided a platform for enhanced engagement between the Command and the brewery on matters of compliance, revenue generation, and trade facilitation.
During the visit, DC Wale Adewole underscored the critical importance of compliance with existing excise laws and regulations, stressing that adherence to these rules supports national revenue collection and contributes to economic stability. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to facilitating legitimate trade while ensuring strict enforcement of government fiscal policies.
The Acting Customs Area Controller commended International Breweries Plc for its significant contributions to the economy, particularly through job creation and its role in boosting the revenue profile of the Oyo/Osun Area Command. He urged the management to maintain its high level of compliance and to uphold transparency in its operations as a model for other excise factories.
In his response, the plant manager, Mr. Emmanuel Onabanjo, welcomed the visit, describing it as timely and impactful. He reiterated the brewery’s commitment to sustaining a cordial working relationship with the Nigeria Customs Service and pledged continued adherence to all regulatory and compliance requirements.
The meeting also allowed both parties to engage in constructive dialogue, identify operational challenges, and discuss ways to improve cooperation and efficiency. The Oyo/Osun Area Command reiterated its commitment to stakeholder engagement, trade facilitation, and the robust enforcement of fiscal policies in line with the broader mandate of the Nigeria Customs Service.
