The Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Gaidam, has commended the ongoing nationwide recruitment exercise for the Nigeria Police Force, describing its conduct as orderly, transparent, and well‑managed across the country. He made the statement after receiving field feedback from officers supervising the process, calling the recruitment more than a routine manpower exercise and a critical step toward rebuilding public trust and strengthening the Force’s operational capacity.
Gaidam urged all applicants to remain law‑abiding, disciplined, and patient throughout the screening stages, stressing that integrity and respect for due process are as important as physical fitness and academic qualifications. “This is more than recruitment; it is a call to national service,” he said. “Nigeria needs men and women of honour, individuals who understand that security is the foundation upon which development and prosperity are built.”
The Minister expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for approving the recruitment of 50,000 police personnel, calling the move unprecedented and a clear signal of the government’s determination to address manpower gaps and reposition the Police Force to meet contemporary security demands. He added that the current administration is not only expanding the Force numerically but also pursuing meaningful reform to make policing more professional, accountable, and citizen‑centred.
Gaidam highlighted improvements in training frameworks, welfare packages, and operational support as key elements of the reform agenda, describing them as ushering in a new era for law enforcement in Nigeria. He said the ongoing recruitment stands as a symbol of renewed hope, bridging present challenges and a future where communities feel safer, justice is more accessible, and the rule of law is upheld.
As the screening proceeds nationwide, the Minister appealed to traditional leaders, community members, and other stakeholders to support the process and encourage eligible youths to participate with sincerity and patriotism. He stated that the nationwide recruitment exercise reflects both hope and responsibility for thousands of young Nigerians and is a core pillar in the country’s journey toward a safer, more secure future.
