The Finance and Business Online Publishers Association (FiBOP) has announced the 3rd edition of its Youth Capacity Building and Empowerment Programme, a specialised masterclass on Artificial Intelligence and digital skills tailored for Senior Secondary School students in Lagos State. Themed “Digital Skills, Artificial Intelligence, Online Safety, Insurance, and Financial Literacy for Nigerian Youth,” the event will take place on Thursday, 4 June 2026, at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Conference Centre, Ikeja.

The focal point of this year’s programme is an intensive masterclass led by a leading AI expert, designed to provide students with practical, hands‑on exposure to how artificial intelligence works, its real‑world applications, and the career pathways it opens in Nigeria and abroad. FiBOP says the session aims to demystify AI and equip students with foundational knowledge that will make them better prepared for a technology‑driven job market over the next decade.

According to FiBOP President Mr. Charles Onwuatogwu, the initiative is less about abstract theory and more about connecting students directly with practitioners who are shaping the future of technology, insurance, and finance. “The AI masterclass promises to be one of the most impactful sessions, preparing students for the skills the job market will demand in the next decade,” he said.

In addition to the AI component, the programme will feature lectures and mentorship sessions on digital skills, online safety, insurance basics, and financial literacy. The line‑up includes industry professionals, policymakers, and government officials, with the Lagos State Honourable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education also expected to participate.

Now in its third year, the FiBOP Youth Capacity Building and Empowerment Programme is part of the association’s broader mandate to promote digital skills and financial literacy awareness among secondary school pupils in Lagos State and across Nigeria. The organisers say the programme seeks to equip young people with practical knowledge, connect them with industry leaders and public sector stakeholders, and lay the groundwork for long‑term mentorship and career guidance.
