Securing Nigeria’s maritime gateway has taken a new boost as Comptroller JA Anani, the newly appointed Controller of Customs for Tincan Island Port Area Command, met with Ports Authority Police Command leadership to strengthen inter-agency cooperation.
Anani paid a courtesy visit to Commissioner of Police Oluwatoyin Iyabode Agbaminoja on June 5, 2026, at the Ports Authority Police Command Headquarters in Apapa, Lagos.
The visit was aimed at fostering stronger inter-agency collaboration and enhancing existing synergy between the Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigeria Police Force in securing the nation’s maritime domain.
Speaking during the visit, Anani commended the Ports Authority Police Western Command for its unwavering commitment to maintaining security and public order within the port environment.
He emphasized the importance of sustained cooperation among security and regulatory agencies in addressing emerging challenges and ensuring smooth operation of port activities.
Commissioner Agbaminoja welcomed Anani and congratulated him on his appointment. She reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to working closely with the Nigeria Customs Service and other stakeholders to strengthen security architecture across the nation’s seaports.
The Commissioner noted that effective collaboration, intelligence sharing, and joint drills remain critical to combating criminal activities within the maritime sector and safeguarding critical national assets.
Both leaders pledged to deepen the existing partnership between their respective agencies in pursuit of a secure, efficient, and globally competitive maritime ecosystem.
