The Nigeria Customs Service has been recognised as one of the country’s top-performing government agencies in trade facilitation under the 2025 Business Facilitation Act compliance assessment released by PEBEC.

PEBEC Director-General Zahrah Audu said the service met all required standards and showed clear improvement in the speed and responsiveness of its trade-related services. She said the agency ranked among the best-performing ministries, departments and agencies evaluated in the review.

According to Audu, the result reflects a more transparent and business-friendly trading environment. She added that it also shows the Customs Service’s commitment to operational efficiency and improved service delivery for stakeholders.

Audu further noted that 98 per cent of the 69 MDAs assessed under the Business Facilitation Act are now meeting expected service standards. She said this points to growing progress in government reforms aimed at improving how public institutions serve businesses and citizens.

The recognition comes after several reforms introduced by the Nigeria Customs Service to modernise its operations. These include the B’Odogwu Unified Customs Management System, the Authorised Economic Operator programme and the Advance Ruling System, which have helped simplify import and export procedures, reduce cargo delays and improve transparency.
