Dangote Industries Limited has begun a major cleanup of its logistics operations after uncovering suspected misuse of its trucks for unauthorized commercial haulage and other safety breaches.
The company said its trucks are meant strictly for the transport of approved products and materials belonging to its subsidiaries. In response to the violations, it has alerted security agencies and directed that any driver caught using company vehicles for unauthorized business should be arrested.
As part of the enforcement drive, Dangote has introduced a whistleblowing scheme that offers a cash reward of N500,000 to anyone who provides credible information leading to the arrest of offenders or the interception of unauthorized goods or passengers being moved in its branded trucks.
The company said the initiative is designed to protect the integrity of its logistics network and stop criminal misuse of Dangote-branded vehicles. It urged members of the public to report suspicious activity and support efforts to expose illegal operators.
Dangote also clarified the type of goods each subsidiary’s trucks are allowed to carry. Cement trucks, it said, are limited to cement, limestone, high-grade gypsum, coal and clinker, while sugar trucks may only transport sugar products. NASCON vehicles are restricted to salt and seasoning products, packaging trucks to bags and packaging materials, refinery trucks to polypropylene products and fertilizer trucks to urea.
The company warned that any truck found carrying unauthorized goods would be treated as part of illegal haulage activity, with both drivers and owners of the cargo facing arrest, seizure of goods and possible prosecution.
To support investigations, Dangote said whistleblowers should provide useful details such as truck type, registration number, cab number, location, goods being carried, truck colour and photographs where possible. It also provided dedicated hotline numbers for reports from its Obajana, Okpella and Gboko operations.
Dangote said the campaign reflects a zero-tolerance approach to logistics-related fraud and is intended to protect its assets, strengthen accountability and promote lawful business practices across its transport network.
