Point News247 reports that just a few years after the demolition of the large Ojodu Berger market by the Lagos State Government for developmental purposes, a new shopping plaza has been built.
The shopping complex which has just been launched, is located opposite the old market and was built to enhance trade and commerce.
The new complex named Goshen Land Plaza and built and owned by Pastor (Dr.) Yemi and Mrs. Peju Fajuke, it is a 240-shop facility in the strategic border location of Ojodu Berger, Ojodu LCDA in Lagos state. The grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony was done by the Number One citizen of Ojodu LCDA, Hon David Olusegun Odunmbaku held last Sunday at the new Plaza.
The Chairman expressed delight at the development; ‘This is a welcome development for all market men and women in Ojodu LCDA. We all know that opposite this place was a market but the government demolished it. This plaza will go a long way to help people to get shops. It will be well with all of us and this community will continue to grow. I want to thank God for making this a reality. I want to say a big congratulations to the CEO for the successful completion of this plaza. We pray to God that it will be a noble investment in Ojodu LCDA.’
‘I remembered that on the day I first met Doctor Fajuke, we went back and forth over tax issues but I looked at him and saw passion so I told him that our administration is more than collecting revenue but to support our people. We want people to come and establish in our community. So this will be a good working condition. We are looking for more brands of Goshen Land which will happen with the collaboration of government. I want Ojodu economy accelerators. We are going to support more people’.
On the Goshen Land Plaza, the CEO of Goshen Land Plaza, Pst. Dr. Oluyemi Fajuke said: ‘We have two sections of the Plaza. The first phase we completed a year ago has about 120 shops. The second phase has about 120 shops also making a total of 240 shops of different sizes. It is highly affordable. We don’t want to scare anyone.’
‘The idea is to build relationships and families and help people to start and stay in business. Because when they rent a shop and cannot afford to stock, they will leave business. We don’t have tenants here, what we have is family members. We call them family and that is why you see some of them in the same color as ours.’
Among the dignitaries present at the opening ceremony were the Wife of the CEO of Goshen Land Plaza, Mrs. Peju Fajuke, Vice Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, the Baales in the area including High Chief Nojideem Aro, High Chief Akinyemi Sanbo, High Chief Lasisi Kudoro, High Chief Jamiu Lamidi, Area F Commander, ACP Alli Zongo, Chairman of PCRC, Elder Akande, Bishop and Bishop Mrs. Adewale, Chief Ogedengbe, Barr. Omotilewa, Alhaji and Alhaja Idiat Bello, The Seriki Hausa of Ojodu Land, Alhaji Haruna Hussein and DPO Ojodu Police Division, CSP Akinola Arowojolu. The Seriki Hausa of Ojodu, Alhaji Haruna Hussein who spoke with Trek Africa Newspaper said: ‘I appreciate the CEO for opening this market. Now, we have another market in Ojodu. When they demolished the old one which was opposite this place, we were not happy but today, we have another one. We pray that this market will grow and people who are here will succeed. I greet the Chairman of Ojodu LCDA and the Baales in Ojodu.’
Also speaking at the event, the Special Corps Marshal Lagos state, CP Gbemisola Akinpelu (rtd) who was represented by Assistant Marshal Osifeso remarked: ‘I celebrate the CEO for thinking of this edifice inspite of the infractions going on here. I want to tell the Chairman to encourage other businessmen to do similar things.’
