A routine safety simulation exercise being carried out by the Lagos State Waterway Authority (LASWA) was on Tuesday reported to be a boating accident.

Point News247 reports that LASWA has described as false, a video circulating on social media, saying it was a routine safety simulation exercise carried out by the agency’s Emergency Rescue Team as part of its training exercise.

In an official statement signed by Wuraola Alake of the Public Affairs office of LASWA, the training demonstration is part of LASWA safety preparedness against any possible incident on the State Inland Waterways.

Earlier, there was a video making rounds across the social media claiming that a boat mishap occured at the Five Cowries terminal in Falomo, Ikoyi on Tuesday morning.

Alake in the statement stated that “No such incident of boat mishap whatsoever occured anywhere on the state Inland Waterways in recent time. We therefore urge the general public to disregard this video as it was done unprofessionally by an unknown source without proper Investigation and verification.
