President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar have commended the Super Falcons’s effort after crashing out of the 2023 Women’s World Cup.

Falcons were defeated by England 4-2 on penalties at the Suncorp Stadium, Milton, Australia, on Monday.

Desire Oparanozie and Michelle Alozie missed their penalties as Nigeria crashed out after a spirited performance against the Lionesses who went down by a player in the 87th minute.

Nigeria qualified for the World Cup round of 16 after finishing second in Group B.

Reacting after the match, President Tinubu on his Twitter handle said the efforts made by the Falcons are commendable, adding that they made Nigeria proud on the global stage!

Tinubu said; “I must commend the effort by our Super Falcons #NGSuper_Falcons at the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Your brilliant performance did not go unnoticed despite the final outcome. You made Nigeria proud on the global stage!”

Similarly, Atiku Abubakar while commending the efforts of the Falcons said they have every reason to hold their heads high. He added that he had no regret for skipping breakfast to watch the girls play.

“We may have lost to England in a penalty shootout, but the
