Obidient Movement Demands Immediate Release of Hon. Azuka
******Call for Calm, Cooperation
The Obidient Movement has called for the immediate and unconditional release of Hon. Justice Azuka, a Labour Party (LP) chieftain and lawmaker representing Onitsha 1 North Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly. Hon. Azuka was reportedly abducted at gunpoint on Christmas Eve along Ugwunaobamkpa Road, Inland Town, Onitsha.
In a press statement signed by Dr. Yunusa Tanko, the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, the group urged security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) Anambra State Command, vigilante groups, and other stakeholders, to intensify efforts to locate and rescue Hon. Azuka.
“This abduction is a litmus test for the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to reaffirm their commitment to protecting lives and property. We commend their efforts in recovering Hon. Azuka’s vehicle, but we urge them to sweep through hideouts, dens, and suspected criminal enclaves to ensure his safe return,” Dr. Tanko stated.
Hon. Azuka is known for his role in the Labour Party’s victory in reclaiming the Onitsha 1 North Constituency seat from the previously declared winner, Hon. Douglas Egbuna of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), following the 2023 elections. His abduction has sparked widespread concern among supporters and constituents.
The Obidient Movement appealed to Hon. Azuka’s supporters, associates, friends, and family to remain calm and assist law enforcement by providing any useful information that could expedite his release.
“We believe that with collaborative efforts and relentless determination, Hon. Azuka will regain his freedom soon. This incident underscores the urgent need for a Nigeria where security is guaranteed for all citizens,” Dr. Tanko emphasized.
The group reaffirmed its commitment to working toward a safer and more secure Nigeria, stating, “A New Nigeria is POssible!”
As investigations continue, the Obidient Movement expressed optimism about Hon. Azuka’s safe return while urging vigilance and solidarity among all stakeholders.
