NSCDC Assures Chinese Consulate of Asset Protection, Security in Lagoso

****Says NSCDC Ready to Partner with Chinese Community

The Lagos State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr. Adedotun Keshinro, has reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to protecting critical national assets, infrastructure, and foreign investments in Lagos State.

He gave this assurance during a security conference with the Chinese Consulate General, Ms. Yan Yuqing, at the consulate’s office on Friday, January 3, 2025. The meeting focused on the safety of Chinese nationals and the security of key Chinese investments in Lagos, particularly in telecommunications, mining, road construction, and railway sectors.

Mr. Keshinro pledged the Corps’ readiness to collaborate with the consulate to enhance the safety of Chinese nationals and their investments in Lagos. He emphasized the importance of safeguarding construction sites and other critical infrastructure in the state.

“We remain committed to ensuring the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure across Lagos State. The safety of all residents, including foreign nationals, remains a top priority for the NSCDC,” Keshinro stated.

The Commandant urged Chinese nationals in Lagos to remain law-abiding and respectful of Nigeria’s laws, calling for mutual cooperation between both parties.

“I implore Chinese nationals in Lagos State to be law-abiding, exhibit good character, and respect our rules. Let’s continue to foster unity, love, and cooperation for the development of both nations,” he added.

Ms. Yan Yuqing, the Chinese Consulate General, acknowledged the critical role of the NSCDC in ensuring security and stability in Lagos. She requested the Corps’ continued support in safeguarding Chinese nationals and businesses, particularly in light of growing investments by Chinese companies in Nigeria.

The meeting also highlighted the need to strengthen partnerships between both parties to address emerging security challenges and ensure a conducive environment for business operations.

The conference follows a similar engagement between the NSCDC Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, and the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Yu Dunhai, in November 2024. That meeting focused on manpower development, training programs, and fostering professional growth within the Corps to enhance security operations across the country.

Present at the meeting from the Chinese Consulate were Liu Kai, Chinese Police Liaison Officer, and Xie Yijun, Protocol Secretary.

The NSCDC Lagos delegation included Assistant Commandant of Corps Fabian Adoga, Public Relations Officer Superintendent Oluwaseun Abolurin, Superintendents of Corps Salako Segun and Ibitoye Paul, and Assistant Superintendent of Corps Olanrewaju Olufemi.

In his closing remarks, Mr. Keshinro reiterated the Corps’ readiness to work closely with the Chinese Consulate to ensure a peaceful and secure Lagos in the new year.

“Let us continue to build this relationship for the security and prosperity of all residents in Lagos,” he concluded.
