In a statement, the NYSC described the incident as tragic and confirmed that the circumstances surrounding the death are under active investigation by relevant security agencies.

The Scheme also acknowledged media reports suggesting the possible involvement of a staff member, stressing that the individual has been taken into custody and that the NYSC is fully cooperating with law enforcement to ensure due process and justice.

The NYSC reaffirmed its strict code of conduct for staff and Corps Members, warning that it will not tolerate any misconduct or abuse of office. It urged the public to refrain from speculation while investigations proceed, and reiterated that the welfare, safety, and dignity of all Corps Members remain top priority.
