The Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority Police (Western) Command, CP Oluwatoyin Iyabode Agbaminoja, psc, mnips, on Monday, 21st April 2026, received a delegation from the Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria (AMJON) at the Command Headquarters.

The visit, led by AMJON President, Vera Osokpo, was to appreciate the Command’s sustained efforts in enhancing security, safety, and operational efficiency across the nation’s western ports. The delegation noted the noticeable improvement in the security architecture of port facilities, adding that it has positively impacted the ease of doing business and strengthened stakeholder confidence in Nigeria’s maritime domain.

Responding, CP Agbaminoja welcomed the AMJON executives and thanked them for the visit. She acknowledged the critical role of the media in shaping public opinion and promoting transparency in the maritime ecosystem. She reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with maritime journalists to improve information exchange, raise public awareness, and foster greater accountability in the sector.

The CP further emphasized the Command’s readiness to work more closely with AMJON to curb misinformation, encourage accurate and responsible reporting, and ensure balanced coverage of both security successes and operational challenges within the port environment. She noted that robust communication between maritime security agencies and the media is vital to building public trust and supporting safe, efficient maritime activities.

The Ports Authority Police (Western) Command restated its dedication to maintaining a secure, orderly, and enabling environment for all maritime operations within its jurisdiction.
