Ikeja Electric has reaffirmed its commitment to community health and wellbeing by organising targeted Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) interventions in the *Abule‑Egba* and *Odogunyan* communities to mark *World Malaria Day 2026*, themed *“Driven to end malaria: Now we can. Now we must.”* The outreach focused on raising awareness and improving access to basic health services through community sensitisation and on‑the‑spot medical support. Residents were educated on the causes, symptoms, prevention and early treatment of malaria, and received practical guidance on the use of insecticide‑treated mosquito nets, proper environmental sanitation and the importance of seeking prompt medical care.
As part of the initiative, participants underwent malaria testing and received appropriate antimalarial medication, treated mosquito nets and information materials to support sustained prevention efforts within their communities. The company’s spokesperson, *Kingsley Okotie*, said that Ikeja Electric sees its role as extending beyond the provision of electricity to supporting the health and safety of its customers. He explained that the World Malaria Day outreach reflects the company’s efforts to equip residents with the knowledge and tools needed to prevent and manage malaria effectively. He added that sustained awareness and access to preventive resources can significantly reduce the impact of malaria in the communities it serves, and that the company remains committed to continued collaboration with health stakeholders to drive positive outcomes.
The company also urged customers to remain safety‑conscious during the rainy season, noting that this period increases the risk of electrical hazards such as exposed wires, flooded installations and electric shock incidents. It advised customers to avoid contact with electrical infrastructure during rainfall, refrain from handling or approaching damaged or fallen wires, and ensure that electrical installations on their premises are properly secured and protected from water exposure. Customers are encouraged to report any safety concerns through Ikeja Electric’s emergency lines: 0909‑222‑7299 and 0909‑222‑7799.
Reiterating the company’s broader commitment to community engagement, safety advocacy and sustainable impact, Okotie stated that these priorities remain central to Ikeja Electric’s mission of building safer, healthier and more resilient communities. He emphasised that the company remains dedicated to delivering value to its customers through reliable power supply, continuous stakeholder engagement and meaningful CSR interventions that improve quality of life.
