Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has greeted Muslims in Delta State and across Nigeria on Eid al‑Adha (Eid‑el‑Kabir), urging them to offer special prayers for peace, unity, and the progress of the nation. In a statement released through his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the Governor encouraged Muslim faithful to embrace the spirit of sacrifice, compassion, and selflessness that the festival represents.
Oborevwori called on Muslims to strengthen the practice of almsgiving, especially toward the poor, the needy, and other vulnerable groups, describing charity as a core principle of Islam. He urged all Nigerians to devote their time and resources in service to Allah and to one another, particularly in these challenging times.
The Governor also highlighted the importance of peaceful coexistence among people of different faiths, urging citizens to promote harmony and tolerance during the celebrations and beyond. He expressed confidence that through unity, prayer, and shared commitment to nation‑building, Nigeria will continue to advance in peace, security, and sustainable development.
