The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has launched the maiden edition of the ICAO Next Generation of Aviation Professionals training at its Training School, in a move aimed at strengthening the agency’s workforce and preparing staff for the future of aviation.
The four-day programme, which runs from July 20 to 23, 2026, is focused on talent development, succession planning and professional growth across FAAN’s key operational areas. Participants were drawn from airport operations, aviation security, rescue and fire fighting services, safety, human resources, finance, engineering and other related departments.
Speaking on behalf of FAAN Managing Director and Chief Executive, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, the Director of Special Duties, Mrs. Obiageli Orah, said the Authority is committed to investing in people as a pathway to operational excellence and sustainable growth. She noted that the aviation industry is changing rapidly and that professionals must continue to build new skills to keep up with global standards.
Orah urged participants to engage fully with the sessions and apply the knowledge gained to improve service delivery across the Authority. She said the training is part of FAAN’s broader effort to develop a stronger, more adaptable and future-ready workforce.
Also speaking, the General Manager, Training and Human Resources Development, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Akinlade, described the programme as a valuable opportunity for participants to grow professionally while contributing to FAAN’s talent retention and succession strategy. She said retaining skilled personnel remains essential to the Authority’s long-term performance.
The maiden NGAP training is expected to promote knowledge sharing, collaboration and leadership development across FAAN. It also reinforces the agency’s commitment to building the human capacity needed to support Nigeria’s aviation sector in the
years ahead.
