The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Dr Emomotimi Agama, are expected to attend the 2026 Annual Conference and Awards of the Finance and Business Online Publishers Association as special guests.

The Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, Dr Zacch Adedeji, will deliver the keynote address at the two-day conference scheduled for 17 and 18 October 2026 at Orchids Hotel, Lekki, Lagos.

The event will be chaired by the Chief Executive Officer of the Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise, Dr Muda Yusuf, while the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Insurers Association, Bola Odukale, will serve as guest speaker.

The Chairman of NGX Group, Alhaji Umaru Kwairanga, has also been listed among the special guests.

The conference is themed, “Unlocking Nigeria’s Economic Potential: Taxation, Industry, Insurance, Fintech, Trade & Investment as Catalysts for Nigeria’s $1 Trillion Vision.”

Organisers said the event would provide a platform for policymakers, regulators, business leaders, investors, financial experts and media professionals to discuss practical ways of strengthening Nigeria’s economy and improving the investment climate.

Expected discussions will cover taxation, revenue mobilisation, trade facilitation, capital-market development, investor protection, insurance, financial regulation, fintech, digital transformation and private-sector investment.

The organisers said the participation of senior officials from the NRS, NCS, SEC and NGX Group would add depth to conversations on fiscal reform, customs administration, capital-market access, regulatory oversight and investment growth.

Other institutions expected to participate include the Nigerian Communications Commission, the News Agency of Nigeria, Zenith Bank and Polaris Bank.

The two-day programme will feature expert sessions, high-level panel discussions and stakeholder engagements focused on building a more competitive, inclusive and sustainable Nigerian economy.

The conference will conclude with the FiBOP Awards, which will recognise individuals and organisations for outstanding contributions to economic development, business growth, financial services, capital-market advancement, technology and other areas of national development.

The Chairman of the Conference Organising Committee, Barnabas Esiet, said the association was determined to make the conference a platform for meaningful engagement rather than a forum for speeches alone.

He said FiBOP would continue to promote constructive interaction between the media, government institutions, regulators and private-sector organisations.

The President of FiBOP, Charles Onwuatogwu, thanked the officials and institutions that had confirmed their participation.

He said the presence of the NRS executive vice chairman, Customs comptroller-general, SEC director-general, NGX Group chairman, CPPE chief executive and NIA director-general would significantly strengthen the programme.

Onwuatogwu urged stakeholders in the financial and business sectors to attend the conference and participate in two days of dialogue, networking and recognition of excellence.

He said FiBOP would continue to promote responsible business journalism and support national conversations on economic development.
