Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has expressed condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Federal Government, the Nigerian Air Force and the families of those killed in the crash of an Air Force ATR-42 aircraft in Ondo State.

The aircraft, identified as ATR-42 with registration number NGR 931, crashed in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area, on Monday.

Sanwo-Olu, who chairs the South-West Governors’ Forum, described the incident as a painful loss.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, the governor said he was saddened by the deaths of the passengers and crew members.

The crash claimed the lives of 25 people, comprising 20 passengers and five crew members.

Sanwo-Olu extended his sympathy to the Nigerian Air Force, the victims’ families, friends and associates.

He also expressed condolences to the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, and prayed for strength and comfort for those affected.

“On behalf of the Government and people of Lagos State, I pray that the Nigerian Air Force, families and friends of the victims of the air crash will find the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” he said.
