Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc has reported a profit before tax of ₦603.03 billion for the six months ended June 30, 2026, and declared an interim dividend of ₦1 per share.
The group released its audited consolidated and separate financial statements to the Nigerian Exchange Group and the London Stock Exchange.
GTCO said its performance was driven by growth in interest income and trading income, which increased year-on-year by 7.5% and 24.7%, respectively.
However, a fair-value loss of ₦46.2 billion during the first half of 2026 limited the year-on-year increase in profit before tax to 0.4%.
The group’s total assets rose to ₦18.6 trillion, while shareholders’ funds closed at ₦3.3 trillion.
Its capital position remained strong, with a group capital adequacy ratio of 34.9% and a bank-level ratio of 29.2%.
Asset quality also improved during the period. IFRS 9 Stage 3 loans stood at 3.5% at the bank level and 4.6% at the group level, compared with 3.4% and 5.0%, respectively, at the end of 2025.
The group’s cost of risk declined to 0.6% from 2.2% during the comparable period.
GTCO’s net loan book increased marginally by 0.5%, rising from ₦3.13 trillion in December 2025 to ₦3.15 trillion in June 2026.
Customer deposits recorded stronger growth, increasing by 10.3% from ₦12.87 trillion to ₦14.19 trillion over the same period.
Commenting on the results, GTCO Group Chief Executive Officer, Segun Agbaje, said the performance reflected the strength of the group’s franchise, balance sheet and diversified financial-services platform.
He said fair-value movements affected reported earnings, but the core business remained resilient, with growth in interest and trading income, stronger deposits and improved group-level asset quality.
Agbaje said GTCO’s priority was to execute with discipline and grow responsibly, adding that digital platforms would support expansion across banking, payments, pensions and funds management.
The group reported a pre-tax return on equity of 35.9%, a pre-tax return on assets of 6.6% and a cost-to-income ratio of 31.5%.
GTCO operates banking and non-banking businesses across Africa and the United Kingdom, including payments, funds management and pension administration.
The group said it remained focused on strengthening its financial-services platform and delivering long-term value to shareholders and other stakeholders.
