The Delta State National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Asaba, the state capital, on Monday nullified the February 25, 2023, election of the member representing the Isoko federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Jonathan Ukodhiko, of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP).
The tribunal also sacked a two-term member of the House of Representatives on the platform of the All Progressive Congress, (APC) representing Ughelli North/Ughelli South/Udu federal constituency, Francis Waive.
Delivering its judgement, the tribunal chaired by Justice Cathrine Ogunsola, ordered that the Certificate of Return issued to Jonathan Ukohdiko of the PDP as winner of the Isoko federal constituency election should be set aside and a re-run for Enwhe ward 09 of Isoko federal constituency.
The candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for Isoko federal constituency, Dickson Ebegbare alias Fineboy, had approached the tribunal, insisting that Ukohdiko was not duly elected by lawful votes and that no election held in the contentious ward 09.
In the case of Waive of the APC, the tribunal nullified the election due to failure to have his qualification published and declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 25 election, Solomon Ahwinahwi to represent Ughelli North/Ughelli South/Udu federal constituency in the house of representatives.
